Coaching Goals

Everybody comes to coaching with their very own goals and ambitions, and with their own picture of how these fit into the story of their life and their overarching vision.

Together, we will sharpen your idea of what you want to achieve and link it to deeper goals and values. This anchors your goals before we work on ways to reach them.

Coaching is a safe space in which you are the expert on your life, environment, and capabilities. My role is to guide your thinking and reflecting: I keep us on track, highlight what you emphasise or what carries emotion, challenge you to look beneath plausible-sounding reasons, and encourage you to consider novel thoughts and courses of action.

At the same time, I go beyond asking questions and will offer experiences and perspectives with a light touch. Creativity emerges from the interplay between two people who bring their own knowledge and views. Below, you will find the experience I bring to the various coaching topics to enrich our conversation and help us imagine new possibilities.

Planning Career Steps

Forget the corporate ladder – today's corporations are dynamic mazes in which the matrix shifts every few years and roles and responsibilities are reshuffled along with it. And with AI fundamentally changing every job role, career planning is a whole different issue today.

I work with you to build capabilities and networks that allow you to thrive in this constantly changing landscape.

I offer my experience devising and executing org changes and role definitions, and coaching executives through change.

Deep expertise can give us strength and courage. It can also make career transitions look daunting, threatening your identity when you need to let go, and your sense of security when you cannot yet bring a wealth of experience to new tasks.

Let's dig deep to find your core identity beneath role and expertise identities, explore how your values can anchor you and provide the ground from which you can propel yourself into a new role.

My own transitions through a wide variety of roles, and my past guidance of executives and experts through transitions, allow me to bring ideas and realistic scenarios to our conversation.

Navigating Strategic Change

As an executive, you face crucial decisions in an increasingly dynamic and uncertain environment, exacerbated by the unforeseen effects of AI. At the same time, teams are exhausted from constant change and yearn for guidance and stability.

We will devise ways to square these seemingly contradictory demands by linking realistic scenarios back to values and principles, and by enabling you to create clear plans that can be executed in an agile fashion.

I bring my experience with strategy development and change execution, with a broad foundation from Henley Business School, Columbia University, and Prosci.

Negotiations challenge us – how much power do we have, how real is a threat, how much can we ask, what pain can we endure?

In negotiations, we are at risk of negotiating with ourselves, of assuming asymmetry in knowledge and leverage, of allowing our emotions to confuse us, or of letting beliefs limit our ideas. It is essential to look at the playing field objectively and to define a clear plan fortified with strong and flexible demands.

As a certified Schranner Advanced Negotiator, I understand the dynamics and tactics of hard negotiations, and can encourage you to consider new avenues towards mutually beneficial agreements.

Settling as an Expat

If you are an expatriate, you may have noticed that expat life feels different from what you expected. You might miss connection and balance. Maybe you've retreated into your expat bubble or buried yourself in work.

In coaching, I work with you to regain clarity and calm, orienting yourself in your new environment and society. And if there is a specific blocker that keeps you from feeling at home, we tackle this so that you can feel connected.

As an executive and expert, I have lived abroad for over two decades, in Paris, Chicago, and now Amsterdam. I have experienced the pressure of demanding roles, long hours, and the quiet impact this can have on integration. I know what it means to arrive professionally – and still need time to arrive personally. This is how I can bring deep empathy and a wealth of learning from my own personal journey.

Verbal aggression in the workplace is often hidden behind seemingly rational or objective statements. This makes defence against these attacks difficult, while the emotional pain and confusion deeply affect the relationships and the atmosphere.

Through coaching, we identify what is really going on, how you can stabilise your emotions and gain control of the situation, and which steps enable you to transform the confrontation into collaboration.

I have written and published a book on managing verbal aggression at work, and gladly offer my insights from the experience, discussions, and research that went into this book.
